Wadkin WX WZ Pattern Miller
The production of Engineers Patterns, Coreboxes, etc., by mechanical means was made possible for the first time bu the development in 1897 of the Wadkin 'Mechanical Woodworker'. Since that time this machine, now called the Wadkin Pattern Miller, has become known in practically all the leading world, and is to-day recognised as indispensable in any well equipped Pattern Shop.
Specification
WX - The overhanging arm is raised and lowered either by power or hand feed and carries a spindle head which swivels to any position from 50 degrees above the horizontal to 20 degrees beyond the vertical. Six speeds to the cutter spindle 850/4200 rpm which has both hand lever and fine screw feed. The work table 810 x 900 mm (32" x 35.5") has compound and swivelling movement, the table body frame is also provided with a secondary rotary motion and the whole table assembly is moved along the foundation frame rails by handwheel. Two built-in motors with frequency changer (3 phase). Distance from spindle centre to vertical frame of machine 1248 mm (49 1/8").
